Fundraising That Asks Families for Nothing
Schools, clubs, and nonprofits earn a donation each time a family in their community goes solar. Individuals earn $1,000 when another homeowner they refer goes solar.

$500

Share It Once
Add a short note to something you already send families: a newsletter, an email, or a flyer. We provide the wording and the flyer.
Families Talk With Us Directly
Interested families contact Solar Advantage on their own. We analyze each family’s home and bills, find the solution with the best savings, and match them with one of several licensed installation partners, who designs and installs it.
Your Program Earns
When a family’s installation is complete, we send the donation to your organization.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about fundraisers and referrals.
How does the Reverse Fundraiser work?
Your organization shares a short note we provide in something you already send families. Families who want a lower electric bill contact Solar Advantage on their own, and your organization earns a donation for every home that completes an installation. There is nothing to sell and no donations to collect.
How much does our organization earn?
$1,000 for each completed solar and battery installation and $500 for each battery added to a home that already has solar. There is no cap, and your organization is never invoiced or charged.
When is the donation paid?
After each installation is complete and we have your organization’s Form W-9. Expect about 3 to 6 months from a family’s first conversation to the donation.
Do we share student or family information?
Never. We do not ask for rosters or student information, nothing is asked of students, and families decide for themselves whether to contact us.
Who can earn a referral payment?
Anyone 18 or older living in the United States, including customers, friends, and real estate agents. You earn $1,000 when another homeowner you refer, who is new to Solar Advantage, completes an installation. Employees and installation partners of Solar Advantage are not eligible.
Can I earn a referral payment for my own home?
No. The payment is for another homeowner’s installation, and you never need to buy anything to earn it.
Why do you need a Form W-9?
We need a completed IRS Form W-9 before sending any payment, and we may report payments on Form 1099. We email you a secure link to fill in and sign your W-9 online. Please do not send a W-9 by email or text, since it contains your taxpayer ID number.
I am a real estate agent. Can I refer clients?
Yes. Follow your brokerage’s rules and your license obligations, including any required disclosure of referral payments to your clients. We can also visit your office, or join by video call, for a group presentation on renewable energy trends for residential and commercial clients.
Can our organization pause or end the fundraiser?
Yes, at any time. Just let us know. Full details are in the Program Terms.
